Ok so let me set the scene…
You just spent the last hour in your favorite shop and left with the cutest new top and a pair of shoes too. It’s been a great day of retail therapy to say the least and you’re pretty proud of yourself for actually finding a couple of things that you absolutely can’t wait to wear. And although you would have much rather spent less, you’re ok with it since you never ever find anything that fits this perfectly. You’re gleaming. A couple of weeks later you’re out to lunch with your best friend and she’s wearing the same top. She can’t stop raving about what a great deal she got on it. You’re like…waaait….whaaat? Turns out she got it about one week later after you and for about 20 dollars less than what you paid. And since it’s past the store’s price adjustment period (most retailers usually set this to 14 days), it’s too late now to get the price difference back. So annoying, right?
Well you’re not alone. Here are some facts. Did you know that 1 in 3 items goes on sale within 30 days of purchase or less and that consumers in the U.S. missed out on over 20 billion dollars last year? Yes, you read it right…that’s BILLIONS worth of price adjustments. Just think about how often this probably happens to you without you even knowing it. What a bummer.
Well just the other day I discovered an app that I just have to share. It totally has your back. It’s called “Eyeona” as in “I’ve got my eye on a watch…a computer…etc, etc.” This is a must have, in my opinion, mobile shopping app. Eyeona has partnered with many major brands and helps you get back and save money on all your shopping purchases…past and future. In a nutshell, Eyeona tracks price changes and alerts you to price adjustments after you purchase & helps you save money on future purchases.
I know, awesome. And what perfect timing, mommas…with back to school shopping in full swing, you need this app to help you save and get the best deals.
So here’s how it works.
Past purchases
Protect a Price:
By simply signing up for Eyeona online and enrolling in the Receipt-o-matic, they’ll watch the price of the items you buy and if any of it goes on sale, they’ll let you know via email. Essentially, any receipt that comes to my email (you set up which email account(s) to track) is included. It’s so cool because I’m already getting email notifications on purchases I made even before I set up my Eyeona account. So for example, you buy your kiddo a toy from Target. Take a picture of the receipt after you purchase using the Eyeona app. If the toy happens to go on sale within 2 weeks or whatever the store’s price adjustment policy is set at, you will receive an email alert. You take your receipt to Target and voila…more cash back in your pocket.
Eyeona has partnered with hundreds of major brands and they’re adding more every week. Some of my faves like Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Target and Babies R Us are already on there.
Future Purchases
Eyeona also helps you save on future purchases in two ways.
Deal Maker:
Let’s say you’ve got your eyes on a new desk for your child, but you have your mind set on a certain price that you’re willing to spend for it and currently, it’s out of your price range. You can either scan the barcode if you’re at the store or look up the desk online using the app. Enter the amount you want to spend. If the price reduces to that amount, you’ll get an email alert.
Watch List:
Another way you can save money using the app is by scanning barcodes of items you are interested in or searching for them online and Eyeona will let you know when they are on sale or permanently marked down.
To register for Eyeona online, click here, or download the app to your iPhone or Android.
If you’re using Eyeona, what do you think of it? We’d love to hear about the shopping apps that are helping you save money, too.
Happy savings, guys!!
