a book review: the little big book for dads

First off, Happy Labor Day everyone!  Hope you’ve all had a fun long weekend.

For some reason, this Labor Day reminded me of labor as it relates to actual child labor.  And somehow that got me thinking about all the work that a woman does to bring a baby into this world…carrying the baby for many months, dealing with all the emotional and physical pains that can bring, the labor itself and much more even after.  It also got me thinking about all the celebrations that surround the woman…the mom to be.

It’s no secret that Dads are usually left out of celebrations such as baby showers or just the experience of having a new baby. Mom gets the attention initially…of family, friends and even strangers. Then it all goes toward baby. Often, dad lingers somewhere in the background, waiting patiently to take on his new role.  I definitely don’t think that any mom or baby deserves less than this.  But it also got me thinking about all the dads to be and how they deserve some attention, some love too, a little more credit.
