tuesday tip: organzing those electric cords

Here’s an easy tip for when you have a ton of cords plugged into an area and can’t figure out which plug goes to which item

Our lives revolve around technology.  We have iPads, computers, phones, iPods, cameras, video cameras, dual screen and so much more.  When you have all those items plugged into sockets, it can become a crazy mess with cords all over the place…and when you want to unplug something your head goes in circles to figure out which cord goes to which electric device.  So a super easy and cheap way to organize those cords is to use those plastic clips that come on the packages of bread.  Simply use a permanent marker, label the plastic clip and clip it onto your cord.  That way when you need to unplug something, you just look at your little bread clip and can get it done  in half the time!

tuesday tip: taking your child out into nature to learn

Today’s quick tuesday tip is about an activity you can do with your child to teach them about the senses and environment.

As parents, we often resort to toys, games, and indoor stimulation to teach children the learning points of sounds, scents, visual/colors and feel of objects, especially since kids get bored so easily! A great, (and free!), way is to take your child out into nature and also teach them about the environment, (check out this post about another easy way to keep your kids from getting bored, too). While I am fortunate to live in a warm weather climate with plenty of nature around me, there are ways to do this in other places, too. For city dwellers, this can mean a park, for cold weather climate families, (it’s almost spring!), it could also mean either watching from indoors and talking about it, or bundling up and actually going outdoors together. Check out my video tip above, and how happy my daughter was being in the botanical gardens with me :)
