macy’s…making it easy to shop for a cause

Most of us are always looking to save money when we shop.  But how about not only getting the chance to save but the opportunity to donate to a really good cause, at the same exact time?

It’s such a brilliant collaboration when major retailers partner up with organizations or charities that they believe in and provide significant savings to us consumers and in the process, we as the consumers get to give a little back to a good cause.  It’s so easy for everyone to participate and ‘shop for a cause’.  A win win in my book.  And what better time than now since it’s back to school season?  Major win win, right?!

Well since 2006, Macy’s has formed a partnership with a nonprofit that has always been close to my heart, but even more so now – March of Dimes.  For those of you who don’t know, the mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

And this Saturday, August 25th, Macy’s is offering the best deal it offers all year long during its seventh annual Shop for a Cause event.  If you buy a $5 shopping pass (purchase them at Macy’s or macys.com), you can enjoy 25% off storewide savings all day long on August 25th.  The 25% discount applies to all regular, sale and clearance items (see store website or shopping pass itself for discount exclusions and restrictions).  You cannot beat that!

I think the absolute best part of all of this is that 100% of every shopping pass purchased, goes straight to the March of Dimes.  This means that each one of us who participates, will be directly supporting and impacting research and programs that help moms have the healthiest pregnancies they can have and their babies, the healthiest start to their lives as possible.  To date, this joint effort between Macy’s and the March of Dimes has raised over $42 million in funding toward these initiatives.  That is incredible.

To help others in need and save money at the same time…can it get any easier?

Do you know of any other retailers who are also partnering up with charities and organizations that make it so we can shop for a cause?  Will you be going to Macy’s this Saturday, August 25th?  See you there!

Happy giving back…oh, and shopping too. ;)
