clarisonic mia 2 – product review

Gone are the days when I could just make an appointment with my aesthetician, relax for an hour or more while she worked her magic to help my skin look its best. I just don’t have the time and sometimes when I have the time – this is rare – I just don’t have the energy. Quite honestly, thesedays, I’d rather have the extra sleep. Boy, have things changed. ☺

Anyways, I have always cared about my skin, maintained a daily skincare regimen. I love trying out new products and sharing with my friends and family what works for me. And since as a new momma I don’t have time to indulge with regular spa visits as much, I wanted to finally get a Clarisonic face cleansing brush. My best friend Seema who works at Sephora Headquarters in SF, has raved about this awesome skin-cleansing tool for years, evening offering me her friends and family discount. I’d look at that price tag and even with the discount would kind of just say…no thanks. Even when I did the math, it still made more sense financially to buy the brush than get a facial every month but for some reason, I just could not get myself to take the plunge for just one brush.

Lately, I started thinking about the Clarisonic more and more. I knew I needed something to help my tired, dull skin. I just couldn’t deal with what was glaring back at me every time I dared to look in the mirror. So I asked…I mean I begged Hitesh to just get it for me for Mother’s Day.

That conversation went something like this:

Shraddha: Honey I want a Clarisonic. That’s all I want for Mother’s Day.

Hitesh: You’re kidding. This is what you want for your FIRST Mother’s Day? You won’t be mad? Is this a trick question? That’s all I have to do?

Shraddha: YES…all I want is this brush! That’s all.

Hitesh: Hmm…okkkk. (big eye roll)

Well the day came…he listened and I was ready to rip that brush outta the box and finally give myself an at home facial.

Now, the Classic is the original version of this brush. I didn’t want something so big so I ended up exchanging it for the Mia 2, which is the smaller, slightly less-expensive version and the most recent model with two brush speeds.

This tiny tool is fantastic and I use it every evening. It’s like giving myself a facial everyday. You can use it with your favorite non-abrasive cleanser. My brush came with the Clarisonic cleanser but I prefer to use my own cleansers. I switch between Philosophy Purity, Ule Henriksen and Cetaphil as my go to daily cleansers. Love them each so much.

After just a couple of uses, I noticed the following:

• face was much smoother and softer

• serums and moisturizer absorbed into my skin better and actually work more effectively

• applying makeup was also easier because my skin was so much smoother

• blemishes are down significantly

The Mia 2 has two speeds and although I was using the first or slower speed for the first week, I have since moved onto the second or faster speed. One feature that I really love is the timer which beeps and pauses momentarily to indicate when it’s time to move to another part of your face.

I start with my forehead, next is the chin and then left side of my face and finally right. This feature makes it incredibly easy for you to give enough time to each part of your face so you get a really good scrub in.

Some facts about the brush:

• rechargeable and includes a charging cradle; before first use, it must be charged for a full 24 hours

• once fully charged, should last up to 20 uses

• waterproof and can be used in the shower too

• clinical results have shown that 6 times more makeup is removed by using the Clarisonic Mia2 than manual cleansing alone

• reduces the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles and improves overall skin tone – I can definitely attest to this!

• perfect for all skin types, even with sensitive conditions like rosacea and acne

I’m going to continue to use my Clarisonic Mia 2 simply because I love it and what it’s doing for my skin. It’s become an easy part of my skincare routine. And I really feel like I’m treating my skin well by cleansing and exfoliating it completely. I love the feeling of my skin afterward and the daily at home facial I’m getting in just minutes. Minutes that are now even more precious to me since I’ve become a momma!
